Welwyn Club National 26th May 2012

There was quite a disappointing number of Aldershot racers at the Welwyn Club National but those that were there continued to put in the excellent performances and results we have seen so far this year. It was also good to see two debutants to the Club National scene as Euan Smith and Nathan Smith took part in their first Club National. Starting with the females race, we had three racers in the top 4 with Ellen Hathway winning, Jenny Davies coming third and Annie Usher fourth. In the males race James Sieber finished third overall. In terms of the group awards, Gold medals were won by Toby Case (U12), Annie Usher (U16), James Sieber (U18) and Ellen Hathway (U21). Silver medals were won by Bella Hathway (U16), Jenny Davies (U18), Will Reader (U21) and Simon Bannister (Masters). Craig Speed won his first medal in a Club National by finishing third in the U14 race.

A feature of ERSA Club Nationals this year is a GS race at the end of the day. The females race was dominated by Aldershot as Ellen Hathway won finishing just in front of Annie Usher in second and Jenny Davies in third. Not to be outdone, James Sieber won the silver medal in the males GS race.

Snowsport South Race at Aldershot

We are only a couple of weeks away from the first Snowsport South race of the year at Aldershot but we currently only have 21 race entries for Aldershot racers. I know there will be some racers competing in the GBR series race in Manchester which is great but being our home event I would like to see a full representation of the remaining Aldershot racers. For those who have not competed before the Snowsport South races are an excellent place to start and if you have any concerns or questions just ask any of the more experienced racers or parents or drop me a line. Please remember that entries close on the evening of Wednesday the 16th May so make sure you get your entry in before then. If you have any problems with registering or entering the race, please let me know.

Bromley Club National

Entries are still open for the Bromley Club National next Saturday the 12th May. Details can be found at http://www.britski.org. Please remember that everyone in what was the early group during winter training is expected to be competing in at least Club National events and being a local slope that we know well this is an ideal race to take part in.

Day registrations are allowed so you do not even have to be registered with Snowsport England as your club membership covers third party insurance.

May Monthly Race - Sunday 13th May

During the summer we will retain the principle that the monthly race will be held on the second Sunday of each month unless something comes up that necessitates a change. This Sunday we will therefore be holding the May Monthly Race.

On Saturday 15 racers from Aldershot took part in the first outdoor GBR series race. Outstanding performance of the day came from Hannah Bozier who dominated the ladies race in the timed runs and therefore won the U18 girls race but then had to win through the parallel slalom knockout competition in order to claim a very deserved first overall for the event. James Sieber also won his group (U21 males. There were second places for Toby Case (U12) and Ellen Hathway (U21) and third places for Bella Hathway (U16) and Simon Bannister (Masters).
